26 October 2024, Serdang – The Secretariat of Academics and Intellectual Development, College Representative Council of Tan Sri Mustaffa Babjee College (KTMB), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), for the 2024/2025 session has organized the Sciverse-CSI Camp program in collaboration with Sekolah Kebangsaan Puchong Utama 3, Puchong, Selangor on 26 October 2024. The event was attended by 122 Level 2 students and 65 students from Tan Sri Mustaffa Babjee College. This program was held at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, UPM.

Participants were divided into several training groups
The program focused on empowering STEM knowledge among school students, particularly in the fields of criminal investigation and forensics. Its purpose was to expose school students to STEM education through engaging exploration activities and simulations in forensic science to spark their interest in pursuing STEM fields. This program was themed CSI Camp. The CSI Camp was chosen to encourage the elementary school students’ enthusiasm towards this field through interactive and interesting activities in the investigation world. The CSI Camp covers topics like basic criminal investigation, forensic analysis techniques, crime scene processing and collection and packaging of evidence. The activities included lifting and examining fingerprints, casting tread impressions, identifying and examining blood spatter and stains and much more.

Among the activities conducted was a group-based exploration, where students worked together to complete challenges at each checkpoint. At each checkpoint, students were introduced to scientific concepts behind forensic science by facilitators and were required to solve mysteries and challenges using the concepts they learned.

This program has received an encouraging response from the students of Sekolah Kebangsaan Puchong Utama 3 who were involved. They showed great interest and enthusiasm throughout the program. This program has successfully imparted interesting knowledge and valuable experience to all Sekolah Kebangsaan Puchong Utama 3 and KTMB students who were involved.
