Understand the meaning of independence based on Islam

Muslims in this country must be grateful for the invaluable blessings of independence. Under the auspices of Divine grace and guidance, every layer of society can welcome the 66th Independence Day. As the roar of independence reverberated throughout the country, the Jalan Gemilang flag was hoisted reflecting Malaysia's glory in realizing a pluralistic society of many nations and religions as a society of harmony and prosperity.

The plural nature is a reality that humans should contemplate and live up to. The words of Allah SWT: "O mankind, indeed We created you from male and female and We made you into various nations and tribes so that you can get to know each other (and be friendly with each other). Indeed, the noblest of you in the sight of Allah is the one who is more pious among you. Indeed, Allah is All-Knowing, Most-Deep in His Knowledge (of your circumstances and deeds)." (Al-Hujurat: 13)

He explained the ingredients that Allah SWT made in the world in a very beautiful condition with the existence of various nations, languages and religions so that humans are allowed to exchange thoughts, opinions and experiences, while at the same time realizing a precise blend with Divine justice through moral ornaments and commendable morals.

Understanding this verse emphasizes that people from various nations and languages can unite and live in a country in safe harmony. This fact is a sign of Allah SWT's power and His wisdom so that we think and then acknowledge His oneness.

Flying the Glorious Path while commemorating independence completes every human being's appreciation of the meaning and essence of independence. The flag is a fairly symbolic symbol for every Malaysian citizen so that they can shine with their humanity and glorify Allah SWT with commendable morals and morals.

The flag has its own history in the folds of Islamic history, such as what happened when the great world power, Rome, gathered its troops to overthrow the Islamic kingdom in Medina. In the midst of the war, the right hand of an Islamic military commander, Jaafar ibn Abu Talib RA, who was holding the flag, was cut off, then he exchanged it for his left hand. When his left hand was cut off, he held it with the stump of his hand until his head was beheaded, but another friend also carried on the task of raising the flag.

That is the value of the flag among friends who are proud of Islam and display commendable morals to defend Islam against any external invasion. At least the flag sparked the spirit and fighting power of the Islamic army to continue fighting to uphold it until the last drop of blood.

That is the meaning that should be incarnated in every Muslim individual to continue to try and struggle to re-dignify Islam and its people as the best people in all fields of life.

The essence of independence is not just freedom from colonialism of any nation, mind or culture as most people understand, on the contrary, according to the Islamic perspective, it means human freedom to be able to enjoy life according to their nature which is human nature in accordance with the true goal of its creation by Allah SWT.

Allah SWT said: "And (remember) I did not create the jinn and humans except for them to worship and worship Me." (Al-Dzariyat: 56)

Humans are free, live in a state of nature, the provisions and guidelines of their creator, at the same time in accordance with human rights as human beings with common sense and are free to carry out beliefs with nature under the foundations of the commands and prohibitions of Allah SWT. In fact, independent life is the basic right of every inhabitant of the universe.

Today, most Muslims have misinterpreted their understanding of human rights. He is understood to live according to the will of the heart and lust to justify something that is haram and forbids halal things. They understand independence as being free to think, will and act without being restricted by any rules, values or laws including sharia law. In fact, religion is considered as an opium that needs to be removed.

Without realizing it, wrong and narrow understandings have dominated the thinking of some Muslims during modern colonialism launched by the West until they are far from nature and divine guidance. As a result, a Western reference generation has emerged with a materialist personality, prioritizing desires and glorifying Western culture and lifestyle.

It is very unfortunate if the Muslim community proclaims the independence of the state while all aspects of life such as thought, education, economy and culture are still controlled by Western ideas. In fact, life is far removed from the essential rules set by Allah SWT. Therefore, Muslims are obliged to realize the sad nature of this and try to save themselves from escalating chaos.

The only way out is to return to the guidance of the Koran and sunnah of the Prophet's life which are the main pillars of true independence and the revival of the Muslim community.
