Seventeen College Commencement developed on 10 July 2003 in line with the construction of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences with an estimated cost of RM 202 million and was completed in full on January 10, 2006.

Handover of keys Seventeen College building from the developer to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), Universiti Putra Malaysia was held on June 16, 2006. However, Seventeen College just started operating on 1 July 2006. For a while, the temporary administrative center is located in Pavilion of Arts, Universiti Putra Malaysia.

In general, the college houses students from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. However, there are also a few students from other faculties in Universiti Putra Malaysia campus living here. Overall, there are four building blocks of student accommodation block A, block B and block C for female students while block D for boys. In addition, there is also a musolla, a student kiosk building, cafeteria, principals house and eight (8) units fellows.

Tan Sri Mustaffa Babjee College (KMB) is the youngest college among the 10 residential colleges available at Universiti Putra Malaysia. The college began operations in July 2006. The college houses students from the Faculty of Medicine & Health Sciences (FPSK) and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FPV). In total, there are 4 blocks of student housing, namely block A, block B and block C which accommodate female students while block D is for male students.

Tan Sri Mustaffa Babjee College also provides facilities such as surau, student kiosk, cafeteria, football field, court, guest house and seven (7) units of fellow houses. Accommodation at Tan Sri Mustaffa Babjee College has the concept of 'apartment style' where there are four (4) rooms for each house occupied by two (2) students for each room.

The total capacity that can be accommodated by Tan Sri Mustaffa Babjee College is 1600 student.

The college is directly responsible for providing comfortable accommodation, a safe and conducive environment for students as well as producing students with superior personalities

Melangkah keluar dari menara gading sebagai graduan cemerlang UPM tidak bermakna jalinan perhubungan anda bersama komuniti di sini terhenti begitu sahaja. Bekas graduan UPM dialu-alukan untuk menyertai Persatuan Alumni UPM, yang mana ditubuhkan khas untuk mengukuhkan ikatan silaturrahim serta jaringan bermanfaat daripada variasi bidang kepakaran. Malah, ramai di antara ahli Alumni UPM telah diangkat sebagai duta di atas sumbangan besar mereka di dalam bidang masing-masing, sehingga meninggalkan impak yang besar kepada masyarakat dan negara - sekaligus mengharumkan nama universiti di persada antarabangsa.

Sejak tahun 1971, penyertaan Alumni UPM telah mencapai lebih 145,000 orang – bukan sahaja dari Malaysia, tetapi dari seantero dunia yang meliputi Australia, Iran, Perancis, Myanmar dan Arab Saudi. Berbekalkan hasrat untuk mengeratkan ukhwah sesama bekas komuniti universiti yang disegani, Alumni UPM sehingga kini telah berjaya berkongsi idea-idea hebat serta menyuarakan pandangan kritis demi pembangunan universiti yang dinamik dalam merealisasikan segala visi dan misinya.
