"MEASURE CLOTHES ON YOUR OWN BODY"

3 Oct 2022 - LENSA IPT Berita RTM has picked up YBrs Prof.Madya Dr Jasronita binti Jasni, Principal of Tan Sri Mustaffa Babjee college in the Lensa IPT program, Mind Vitamin segment 23 Sept 2022 edition. The title shared was "measure the clothes on your own body" which is one of the Malay proverbs often used to advise an individual directly or indirectly. This Malay proverb is indeed poetic and profound in its meaning.

Added YBrs Prof. Madya Dr Jasronita Binti Jasni again, "according to Dewan Bahasa & Pustaka, it describes that every thing and work that we want to do must be in line with our own abilities. In addition, this proverbs can also be translated in the concept of shopping, that is, we should shop for things according to and in line with our own abilities".

He brought the audience to explore the meaning of 'measure the clothes on your own body' in the context of personal financial management among students of the Institute of Higher Education (IPT). The general public is aware that soon, every IPT in Malaysia will be accepting new diploma and certificate students for the 2022/2023 session. The student group needs money to accommodate their increasing study costs and living expenses nowadays. Among the costs that need to be borne by them are housing, transportation, clothing, books, food and so on. By such things, it is very important for students to monitor their spending patterns so that they do not arise waste and arise the habit of being in debt. Often transmitted on social sites regarding stories that provide examples for us all regarding the lifestyle of some groups of students who shop luxuriously like not measuring clothes according to their own bodies. Some are able to starve because they have spent the semester's elaun money to buy luxury mobile phones so that they are at par with their peers. There are also those who splurge on branded clothes, shoes and accessories to show themselves following the current trend. This practice will increase the risk of the student to be involved in waste and debt habits. Because of this, it is very important for students and even the audience to be aware of wise financial management and spending.

He also shared easy tips for managing finances wisely among all students. One of them is that students can prepare a weekly or monthly budget that includes shopping aspects such as food, drinks, learning needs and other expenses. With this, they can make comparisons between the budget amount and the actual amount of spending. Next, students can make a list of items before buying necessities. Through this, they can change their shopping style and can distinguish between their wants and needs. This, indirectly, can ensure that students are prudent in their spending.

Finally, the practice of saving money must be applied and practiced among students. This way, the money saved can be used in the future for other expenses such as anxiety cases. Before ending her talk, her hope that all the audience, especially the students who hear this slot, will be more aware and aware of good financial management and start measuring clothes on their own bodies. Don't be like "Biar papa asal bergaya" which obviously has a bad impact to them. Practice living in simplicity, change our lifestyle and make wise financial management practices a culture life as a student.
