Forum Mahasiswa “Lifestyle- Beyond The Trend

23 November 2025, Serdang – The Academic and Intellectual Development Secretariat, College Representative Council, Tan Sri Mustaffa Babjee College, session 2025/2026 organized the “Lifestyle- Beyond The Trend” Student Forum program located in the Main Lecture Hall, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). This program focuses on current issues for students, especially the influence of social media, trending culture and viral lifestyles that affect the mental and social well-being of students. A total of 300 students of Tan Sri Mustaffa Babjee College (KTMB) were present to participate in this program.

This program featured three invited panelists, namely Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nor Azura binti Adzharuddin, senior lecturer in the field of communication and new media, Encik Mohd Redzuan bin Zamberi, Head of the Psychosocial Awareness Unit and Psychology Officer of UPM, and Ong Jelyn, a 4th Year Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) student, University of Malaya who is active in student leadership and health advocacy. All three panels shared their views and experiences regarding the impact of social media and trending phenomena on the lives of today's students.

The program began with the physical registration of participants at the Main Lecture Hall, followed by the arrival of the guests of honor and the invited panel. The forum began at 8.15 pm and was moderated by Mr. Kamal Aliff. The discussion emphasized the influence of trend-following culture on the thinking, behavior and emotional well-being of students, including issues of peer pressure, trending phenomena and online self-image challenges.

After the forum session ended, the program continued with a question and answer session that gave students the opportunity to interact directly with the panel. This session ended at 9.40 pm and continued with the presentation of souvenirs and a photography session. The program ended around 10.00 pm.

This program is expected to increase students' awareness of the influence of current trends and social media, as well as foster critical thinking and balance in daily life in line with the university's efforts to produce holistic graduates.
