Serdang, 18 January 2026 – The Academic and Intellectual Development Secretariat, College Representative Council, Tan Sri Mustaffa Babjee College, session 2025/2026 has organized the Putra Wizarding Bee 4.0 program; The Word Arena located at Dataran Kolej Tan Sri Mustaffa Babjee, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). This program is a program organized by the Academic and Intellectual Development Secretariat, College Representative Council, Tan Sri Mustaffa Babjee College session 2025/2026, Universiti Putra Malaysia. This program aims to test the mastery of English vocabulary and spelling among university students. In addition, this competition was created to produce students who have a healthy competitive spirit in themselves and are competitive in competitions. A total of 27 Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) students were present to participate in this program. 

We are pleased to welcome Puan Nor Hafizah Binti Anwardeen, Puan Sarah Syazana Binti Baharuddin, and Puan Bazilah Binti Bahaldin from the Language Competence Development Centre (CALC), UPM as judges for our programme. As experienced educators at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), they bring extensive expertise in English language education, public speaking, and professional communication. Puan Nor Hafizah, with over 15 years of experience, focuses on ESL, curriculum development, and student engagement while Puan Sarah Syazana, is a certified trainer and is actively involved in curriculum development and professional training. She is also a recipient of the Universiti Putra Malaysia Outstanding Service Award. Puan Bazilah, has taught at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, served as a MUET examiner, and is an experienced judge for various speech and spelling competitions. Their dedication and commitment to the world of education make them invaluable assets to this programme. 

The programme began at 8.30am with the physical registration of participants at Dataran Kolej Tan Sri Mustaffa Babjee. The initial atmosphere of the program was orderly as the participants took their places while waiting for the program to begin. At 9.00 am, Putra Wizarding Bee 4.0; The Word Arena continued with a briefing session. This briefing aimed to explain the competition rules, and the scoring system that must be followed throughout the program. This session ensured that all participants clearly understood the course of the competition before entering the screening phase. 

Next, the screening competition began at 9.30 am, involving all participants competing to qualify for the quarter-finals. This competition has three groups. All participants must spell each word given by the jury panel. With this, the four best participants with the highest scores from each group will be selected for the semi-finals. After the results were obtained, the names of the participants who successfully advanced to the next stage were announced.

At 11.30 am, the competition continued with the semi-finals. In this competition stage, participants were required to write vocabulary on paper that given by the jury panel. In addition, participants also had to arrange the spelling of the vocabulary in the correct order. In this stage, only the eight participants who scored the highest will continue to the next stage.

At 2.00 pm, the competition continued with the final round competition involving the eight best participants. In this round, participants were required to press the buzzer and the person who pressed the buzzer the fastest would have the opportunity to answer. The participants had to step forward to spell the word. After completing the thrilling final round, the three best participants were recognized as the winners of Putra Wizarding Bee 4.0; The Word Arena.

The closing ceremony began at 3.10 pm with a video montage. After that, the event continued with a speech from the Putra Wizarding Bee 4.0; The Word Arena program director and followed by a speech from the College Principal Tan Sri Mustaffa Babjee. After that, the souvenir presentation session to the jury and prizes to the winners as appreciation for their cooperation in making this program a success. The program ended with a photo session with the participants, winners and committee members.

This program is also held to foster self-confidence, quick thinking skills and effective communication skills. Through this program, students can further improve their level of competence in English which is seen to be able to help them in the future. It also aims to give a positive impact to the participants in mastering English vocabulary and being able to utilize the skills learned in daily life.
