Serdang, 3 April 2023 - Grow and Know: Bound To Society (Phase 2) organized by the Academic Secretariat, College Representative Council, Tan Sri Mustaffa Babjee College for the 2022/2023 session in collaboration with the Malaysian Genetics Association and Kampung Tengah, Gemencheh, Negeri Sembilan has taken place on last 17 to 19 March 2023, a total of 50 villagers and 30 students of Tan Sri Mustaffa Babjee College (KMB) participated in the program. This program is a continuation of the Bound To Society Phase 1 program that took place throughout the first semester of the 2022/2023 session.

 

This program aims to encourage students to share knowledge about Genetically Modified Organism (GMO) to the community through a knowledge transfer intervention program. Among the activities carried out during the program was the presentation of GMO posters produced by KMB students to the people of Kampung Tengah Gemencheh. In addition, KMB students also had the opportunity to visit the 'maman' leaves or Cleome gynandra farming area in Kampung Tengah, Gemencheh, Negeri Sembilan. Sports activities such as musical chairs, blowing balloons and eating bananas were held for children.

 

Throughout the program, all parties involved provided excellent cooperation. Whether it is the commitment from the students of Tan Sri Mustaffa Babjee College, representatives of the Malaysian Genetics Association NGO or the residents of Kampung Tengah, Gemencheh, Negeri Sembilan, all parties involved themselves in the organized program and made the program a success as planned. Throughout the program, the students were able to gain a variety of knowledge from the villagers and socialize with the villagers, especially the elderly.

 

 

 

 

 

The Closing Ceremony of the Grow and Know: Bound To Society Program was officiated by Tuan Haji Abd Latif A. Tambi, State Assembly Coordinator, Gemencheh. The closing ceremony was also attended by guests of honour, namely the Village Head, Kampung Tengah, Gemencheh, Negeri Sembilan, Mr. Mokhtar bin Rashid, and College Principal Tan Sri Mustaffa Babjee, YBrs. Prof. Associate Dr. Jasronita binti Jasni.

 

 

Many thanks to the participants and all parties involved in making this program a success. Hopefully all students who participate in this program can gain new experiences and strengthen their soft skills through interaction with the villagers.
