Kem Perkasa Siswa Empowers Student Leadership and Resilience at KTMB

Batang Kali, 5th July 2025 – The High Council of the Student Representative Committee, Kolej Tan Sri Mustaffa Babjee (KTMB) for the 2024/2025 session, in collaboration with the UPM Student Union and the Student Affairs Division, successfully organised Kem Perkasa Siswa 5.0 from 8 to 11 May 2025, held at Kolej Tan Sri Mustaffa Babjee and Kem Rimba Tamu, Batang Kali. This leadership camp was designed to identify and nurture new student leaders while strengthening students’ values of discipline, teamwork, and self-identity.

The main objectives of this program were to enhance communication across diverse backgrounds, foster confidence in leadership roles, and develop critical problem-solving and teamwork skills. A total of 60 first-year students participated actively, assisted by 15 student leaders and 5 college fellows who served as facilitators.

Throughout the four-day program, various engaging modules were conducted, including Ice Breaking, Effective Communication, Leadership Games, Cave Trekking, Flying Fox, and Obstacle Courses. The program adopted a holistic approach, combining physical and reflective activities to strengthen both the mind and character of participants.

According to Program Director Mohamad Haikal bin Arsahak, the camp was designed not only to cultivate leadership qualities but also to instill a sense of integrity and accountability. “We emphasised character-building as the core of true leadership,” he said. 

The program received overwhelmingly positive feedback, with a satisfaction score of 98.08% based on participant evaluations. Key strengths included the effective facilitation team, well-structured scheduling, and the adventurous yet enjoyable outdoor activities.

Reflection session and closing ceremony filled with unity and meaning

Despite several challenges such as unpredictable weather and a physically demanding environment, the organising committee identified opportunities for improvement. These included preparing indoor modules as contingency plans and creating more flexible rest schedules to ensure participant wellbeing.

In conclusion, Kem Perkasa Siswa 5.0 successfully fulfilled its goals by developing leadership capabilities and personal growth among KTMB students. It proved to be a meaningful platform that should be continued in future sessions to expand its positive impact and cultivate a new generation of dynamic, principled, and resilient student leaders.
