KNOW YOUR PATH 5.0 BULETIN

December 16–22, 2024, Serdang - The Know Your Path 5.0 program was successfully held virtually via the Facebook Live platform by Sekretariat Jaringan Alumni dan Kerjaya, Majlis Perwakilan Kolej, Kolej Tan Sri Mustaffa Babjee, 2024/2025 session, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). This program aimed to provide students with exposure to various career paths in health and science fields. A total of seven series were conducted, each focusing on a different career sector. The program involved 38 committee members, with five members managing each session. A total of 4,420 participants attended the event.

Series 5.1: Pathways to Healing: Exploring a Career in Medicine
On the first day, 622 participants attended this session, where Dr. Safuraa Binti Salihan, a Medical Lecturer from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences UPM, shared insights on the realities, challenges, and opportunities in the field of medicine. She also emphasized the importance of professionalism and soft skills in a medical career.

Series 5.2: Innovations in Health: A Dive into Biomedical Science
On the second day, 687 participants attended this session featuring Dr. Nurul Akmaryanti Abdullah, a Radiation Biologist from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences UPM. This session introduced biomedical innovations, including diagnostic technology and laboratory research, which play a crucial role in solving global health challenges.

Series 5.3: Caring for Tomorrow: A Comprehensive Guide to Nursing
On the third day, 454 participants attended the session, where Dr. Zarina Binti Haron, a Nursing Lecturer from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences UPM, provided an overview of the important role nurses play in healthcare systems. She highlighted the need for empathy and time management skills in the nursing profession.

Series 5.4: Diet for Life: Exploring the Role of a Dietitian
The fourth day saw 659 participants, with Cik A’ishah Zafirah Binti Abdul A’zim, a Dietetic Officer from Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Hospital, discussing the role of dietitians. She addressed the importance of managing issues like obesity and malnutrition while promoting health through balanced nutrition.

Series 5.5: Caring for Animals: A Journey into Veterinary Science
On the fifth day, 668 participants attended this session, where Dr. Syamira Syazuana Binti Zaini, a Senior Lecturer in Animal Welfare from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, shared insights into veterinary science. The session focused on animal health care, zoonotic disease control, and conservation efforts for ecosystem balance.

Series 5.6: Safety First: Careers in Occupational Safety and Health
The sixth day attracted 615 participants, with a presentation by Dr. Vivien How, an expert in Chemical Risk Assessment and Health from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences UPM. The session focused on careers in occupational safety and health, including risk management, safety audits, and the application of cutting-edge technology in the workplace.

Series 5.7: Eating Right: Careers and Insights in Nutrition
The final day saw the highest attendance, with 715 participants. Prof. Madya Dr. Chin Yit Siew from the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences UPM discussed the role of nutritionists in enhancing community well-being through promoting healthy lifestyles and nutrition research.

Overall, the Know Your Path 5.0 program had a significant impact on students. It helped them understand the realities of the job market, global challenges, and the skills needed to succeed. The expert panel discussions inspired students to plan their career paths more clearly and encouraged them to become agents of positive change in their respective fields.
