Smart Saving

18 January 2025, Serdang – The Secretariat of Alumni and Career Network, Tan Sri Mustaffa Babjee College (KTMB), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), successfully organized the Smart Saving program on 18 January 2025. The program was held physically at Tutorial Rooms 1 and 2, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FPSK), UPM, with the participation of 23 students from Universiti Putra Malaysia.

The program aimed to help students acquire financial management skills, plan their dream future, and hone their talent in the art of saving. The talk was delivered by guest speaker, Ms. Norfadliza Minhat, who is the Wealth Managing Director and Public Relations Manager of TSI Wealth Planners Sdn. Bhd., as well as the Chief Love Officer of TSI Group. Throughout the program, she shared her knowledge and experience in the field of financial management.

 

Arrival and Registration of Smart Saving Participants

The program began at 9:00 AM with participant registration and breakfast provided by the organizers. Participants were given a name tag, a mounting board, and a printed sheet with an image for use during the activity session. Participants were also given the freedom to sit on the chairs provided, allowing them to socialize and make new acquaintances.

 

Singing of the National Anthem and Putra Gemilang Song

The program continued with the singing of the National Anthem and the Putra Gemilang song. The program was then officiated with a prayer recitation by Mr. Adam Faruq. Following this, the program proceeded with an introduction session by Ms. Norfadliza Minhat, which helped participants get to know her better. An ice-breaking session was also conducted, where participants shared their goals and expectations for attending the Smart Saving program.

Guest Speaker (Ms. Norfadliza Minhat) Interacts Directly with Participants

During her sharing session, Ms. Norfadliza Minhat emphasized the importance of understanding the basics of saving, as well as the importance of setting goals and targets in saving to motivate oneself. She also shared methods for calculating budgets to determine the amount of money that can be set aside for savings each month.

Participants' Dream Board Activity

The sharing session was followed by an interactive activity with the participants, where they were asked to create a dream board using the materials provided during registration. The purpose of creating the dream board was to provide a visualization or picture of their desired future life, to inspire and motivate participants to remain disciplined in saving. Ms. Norfadliza Minhat also provided direct feedback on the participants' work and gave them the opportunity to present their dream boards.

Gift Presentation to the Guest Speaker (Ms. Norfadliza Minhat)

An appreciation and gift presentation session was held at the end of the program, delivered by the program director of Smart Saving, Izzdiyani Irnatasha, a second-year student of the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine program. A thousand thanks were expressed to Ms. Norfadliza Minhat for her willingness to attend as the guest speaker for the Smart Saving program.

The program aimed to foster a continuous saving culture among KTMB students. Through this program, participants are expected to master financial management skills and develop strong saving habits for their future. It is hoped that this program will be the starting point for producing a generation of students who are wiser in planning their finances and have a positive impact on the community.
